Khenyeza sat on the bench for last time at Usuthu on Saturday as they lost 2-1 to Golden Arrows in the league match in Durban.
The former Kaizer Chiefs striker also served as assistant coach to Muhsin Ertugral while still at Maritzburg United.
Galaxy boss Tim Sukazi has confirmed Khenyeza is on his way to join his club in Mpumalanga.
"Mabhuti is on his way to join TS Galaxy. I did say last week I am looking for a young coach who carries command and has good experience on both the playing and coaching side," Sukazi tells snl24.com/kickoff.
"He has the desire, work ethic and passion for the game. He is a winner. We needed a person to push our players to the edge. He has the energy, drive and has the calibre."
Sukazi also confirms that Esau Mtsweni will remain as the assistant coach at Galaxy.
"The good thing is they played together at Mpumalanga Black Aces," he adds.
Galaxy are in 12th place on the GladAfrica Championship log with 25 points after 21 matches.
