Mbombela United chairman Oupa Matsebula won't accept GladAfrica Championship NFD relegation in Sabelo Ndzinisa TS Sporting case

According to the latest indications, despite finishing 14th in the GladAfrica Championship, the Mpumalanga side will now be relegated to the ABC Motsepe League.

Reports have suggested 23 points will be docked from Tingonyama's final total after they fielded Sabelo Ndzinisa all season while he was contracted to Sporting.

Sporting finished 15th on the final NFD table due to an inferior goal difference to Mbombela as both sides ended on 32 points.

Having missed their arbitration sitting with SAFA on Sunday, Matsebula still insists they are not recognising the verdict.

"Ja the Mkhari process beat us, we only got the outcome now," the Mbombela boss tells snl24.com/kickoff referring to Advocate William Mkhari.

Mkhwari famously ruled on the Tendai Ndoro case in 2018 that resulted in Ajax Cape Town being docked seven points as they were relegated to the National First Division.

"But we are still looking at the outcome, all this was discussed in our absence so ja, we are still considering our options," Matsebula continues.

"How can we show up if we are informed on a Friday that the sitting is on Sunday? What is the urgency when there is still two weeks left for the league to finish? We are not around, it's Friday... some of us have got jobs you know.

"Even yesterday we were not there, they did everything on their own. We just informed them that we won't make it on Sunday... because they wanted the sitting to take place in the morning.

"I don't understand how football works. It's all nonsense.

"Only if you can see the contract they claim to have with the player, that's why I'm saying we are still studying the outcome. We will see what we do. We are waiting for the advice on what will be the best option. It's possible to take it to courts.

"I mean it's unfair to be sentenced without being represented. You tell us in a Friday to appear on a Sunday? I mean all this time since we resumed playing, why they didn't set a date? Even when you are a criminal you are given an opportunity to be represented on your side [in a court of law].

"To my eyes, there's no fairness. They should have at least arranged it for yesterday or today. There's still two games to be played in the premier league. ABC [Motsepe League] hasn't even started."

Contacted for comment, PSL prosecutor Nande Becker indicated that the verdict has already been reached and Matsebula might be swimming upstream.

"I recommended that a press release be prepared last night, so my hands are tied. It was urgent last night, it's even more urgent now," Becker says.

"I can tell you that the matter is finalised, the finding is in, and the sanctions are there as well. He [Matsebula] can do whatever he wants, if they are not recognising the verdict that's a nice one.

"You can't switch off your computer and your cellphone and then say something didn't happen hey. But he never told us [that Sunday's sitting was short notice], did he?"
