MFC: Milford fail to reclaim top spot

Durban City 1-1 Highbury FC

Durban City registered another stalemate in a hard-fought 1-1 draw with Highbury FC in the Motsepe Foundation Championship on Friday.

In a clash between top and bottom, Durban looked to consolidate matters atop the standings and were off to the right start with Nkosithandile Zondi firing the opener.

Highbury didn't sit back but recovered from the slow start and ultimately managed to walk away with a point in the end.

Baroka FC 1-0 Kruger United

Baroka FC moved inside the top-half in the Motsepe Foundation Championship after picking up a 1-0 win over Kruger United on Saturday afternoon.

It's back-to-back victories, Bakgaga Ba Ga Mphahlele, while for the visitors it's a second loss of the season and sit in the bottom-half standings.

The winning strike came in the middle of the first half with playmaker Tshepho Mashiloane on hand to give Bakgaga valuable points.

JDR Stars 0-2 Casric Stars

Casric Stars snatched a third win in succession and jumped to the top of the table with the help of a 2-0 victory over JDR Stars in Soshanguve.

For the Hammerboys, it's a missed opportunity to close the gap with the early pace-setters of the season as goals from Malesela Chokoe and Tlhalefang Kgabane did the damage.

Venda Football Academy 0-1 Leruma United

Venda Football Academy dropped to the foot of the table following a 1-0 defeat to Leruma United in a relegation tussle.

The host are winless since the campaign commenced, but it's not the case for the visitors who have now picked up their first win and in so doing jumped off the dreaded zone.

Upington City 0-0 University of Pretoria

Upington City remained in the top-three standings despite playing to a tough goalless draw against the University of Pretoria in the Norther Cape province.

There were chances for either side to make the breakthrough in both halves, but neither were able to find the decisive touch up top.

On the other hand, AmaTuks' stuttering start to the season continues and currently sit in the bottom-half with just a single win recorded to date.

Orbit College 0-1 Black Leopards

Black Leopards moved into fifth spot on the table in the Motsepe Foundation Championship courtesy of a 1-0 win over Orbit College on Sunday.

Lidoda Duvha raced in front in the first stanza and were able to take the subsequent advantage well into the second period, with Orbit having to comeback but unfortunately didn't manage to do it.

Pretoria Callies 0-0 Milford Stallions

Milford Stallions unfortunately were unable to return to the top of the Championship standings after struggling to a goalless draw against Pretoria Callies.

It's the boys from KwaZulu-Natal second straight draw having been held to the exact outcome last weekend by Cape Town Spurs, with the Romans unable to rise from the loss at Kruger United.
