My Muti Story - Lebohang Morula

It's Muti Monday, every Monday we get in touch with a former player to share a memorable muti story from their playing days.

In this edition of My Muti Story, we hear from former Jomo Cosmos player Lebohang Morula.

Who and where?

"Most of these things used to happen on the pitch. I have never used it myself though because I'm a church person.

"They respected my culture at Cosmos, so it was never done in front of me. I would be excused when it was done. Sometimes it would be done by the other teams during pitch inspections.

"The only time I'd join my teammates in these practices was when they were using salt.

"Most times they used salt at Jomo Cosmos."

Why were you doing it?

"As you know most teams, used muti, so the salt kills their muti. It makes their muti weak."

Who was the muti man?

"To be honest the only time I saw a real inyanga there at Cosmos was in the second division in the nineties, a prophet. He was wearing a jean, t-shirt, and no shoes.

"Jomo didn't like using muti men he preferred doing things by himself."

What did you have to do?

"That muti man went to the pitch and sprinkled some water, apparently he had to do that to protect us in case we happen to step on the other club's muti."

Did everyone take part?

"Only the inyanga took part. The rest of us all we had to do was to step onto the pitch and play the match."

What stood out?

"The only thing that stood out for me in this whole thing is that from that day we started winning.

"I have just forgotten the name of the second-division team we played against that day. It's been a long time."

What was the result?

"We beat them 2-0 and Mr. Sono started saying to us you see this muti man is very powerful he is on fire now.

"He has cleansed us of all the bad blood and bad spells we've been under. So, from now on everything will go well."
