Masehe is now 36 years old but continues to be an integral part of GladAfrica Championship side Free State Stars.
The Ea Lla Koto legend admits he will only step aside from football when the Free State outfit finds his successor.
"You know my brother, in my case it's a very difficult story," the midfielder tells snl24.com/kickoff.
"It's a very difficult situation my situation because I do want to quit you see, but it's very difficult because the team has not found my replacement. And then again me too, I'm still going strong, I'm training every day.
"So it's a matter of saying now I have to give the team that experience and that leadership, guidance and everything else that will help the team go back to the PSL.
"Well, it's possible to find my replacement but it's going to take time. Our team is young so when nothing goes well on the field, nobody takes the ownership and says, 'Brothers, let's do things like this.' It becomes a problem. Sometimes they rely more on me, to find that in my absence they can't do things by themselves.
"But then again, this thing about retiring, once you are over 30 here in South Africa they always want you to retire. But if you feel like you are still fit and you play week in and week out, I don't see any reason to rush into retiring.
"Look at Bhele [Siyabonga Nomvethe] he is still playing, but in my case, I think it's time I start a new chapter in football like coaching because when the season started, I was already on my way there. We will see what happens next season.
"We going to go out and look for players to replace me and see what else our team needs. If they need me to continue playing again, no problem."
Despite his age, Masehe has started 18 games in the second tier this season and has revealed his secret to what keeps him going.
"Change of lifestyle, my brother," he reckons.
"If you are at this age you must let go of a lot of things. Be careful of what you eat. Even this thing we used to do in the past of drinking alcohol on the weekends no longer works now. Once you drink at our age, your body will take time to recover. You have to watch what you drink, you have to watch what you eat, what time you sleep, how you gym.
"You must take responsibility of your body and know it's because of your body that you get paid at the end of the month. If these young boys can start living like that right now, they will go far. Football is your life at the end of the day. Football will change your life if you take it seriously."
