Pretoria Callies to keep Sammy Troughton in GladAfrica Championship promotion

Sammy Troughton and his assistant coach Sly Mosala helped Callies beat Manguang United 3-1 in the semi finals of the ABC Motsepe League promotion playoffs in Vaal on Thursday.

The Tshwane-based outfit will now face Eastern Cape side Bizana Pondo Chiefs in Vaal on Saturday to determine the winners of the playoffs.

Chiefs beat Umvoti FC 4-3 on penalties to gain promotion to the GladAfrica Championship.

Callies chairman Moses Malada has confirmed that Troughton and Mosala will remain in charge of the team.

"Yes definitely [they are staying]. They have done a good job. They promoted the team and we believe they can still do the job in the NFD to PSL," Malada tells snl24.com/kickoff.

Malada has also explained their target for the 2020/21 NFD season and promised keep Lucas Moripe Stadium as their home ground in honour of club legend Lucas 'Masterpieces' Moripe.

"We went to Masterpieces before we went to the playoffs and we promised to win it. After winning the trophy we will take it back to him to Atteridgeville and he will decide for how long he wants to keep it," says Malada.

"Our target this season is to get to the league and acclimatise and get to understand how it goes, and also maintain our status. Next season, that's when we can start talking about big ambitions."
