PSL breaks silence on Mbombela United NFD GladAfrica Championship relegation Sabelo Ndzinisa

As things currently stand Tingwenyama will be playing amateur football next season in the ABC Motsepe League after being docked 23 points for fielding improperly registered Eswatini international Sabelo Ndzinisa.

As a result it is Mbombela that will be relegated and not Sporting, who had initially finished in position 15 on the GladAfrica Championship table.

Speaking to this website last week, Mbombela boss Oupa Matsebula promised to take the matter to court if his club was not reinstated to the first division.

Contacted for comment to get the latest, Matsebula could not be reached on his phone.

"There's nothing that has changed," Sporting chairman Slungu Thobela tells snl24.com/kickoff.

"I'm not aware of any appeal as things stand. We can't speak on their behalf [PSL], maybe it's how they run things. But things still remain the same.

"They've confirmed we've got new standing. As far as we are concerned the matter is done and dusted. But as to why they are not talking, we don't know.

"It does not affect us whether they talk or do not talk, it does not change the price of a banana."

Contacted to provide clarity, PSL acting CEO Mato Madlala appeared to indicate that no appeal has been forthcoming.

"We haven't had anything about Mbombela, the last we heard was the [SAFA] arbitrator's award [finding Mbombela guilty]," Madlala says.

"Me personally, I haven't heard anything. l don't know about our legal [department]. But if legal had received anything, they would have forwarded. But we haven't heard anything."
