Richards Bay admit Brandon Truter regret, sign Tshepo Mabua and Victor Bakah from Real Kings

Richards Bay FC have admitted that failing to keep championship-winning coach Brandon Truter was a big mistake.

Truter is still celebrating winning automatic promotion with Swallows FC against all the odds after leaving the KwaZulu-Natal side towards the end of 2019.

Richards Bay were in second place when Truter departed but ended up just about escaping relegation and finishing 12th in the GladAfrica Championship.

Bay chairman Jomo Biyela admits the changes that came when Truter left affected them and killed the rhythm even though Simo Dladla took charge of the team.

"The changes at the club destabilised the team and we had to sort that out to make sure we didn't get relegated," Biyela tells snl24.com/kickoff.

"We are now working on next season. We will make sure next season we do things better and get promotion under coach Simo Dladla."

Biyela has moved quickly to strengthen the playing squad and capitalised on the instability at Real Kings by snatching two of their key players who were linked to Absa Premiership teams.

Kings are yet to clarify issues around the management of the club, with Tshepo Mabua and Victor Bakah preferring to secure their futures by joining Richards Bay.

"Yes, we've signed them," Biyela confirms. "We've agreed on two years each."
