The PSL is set to start the new season on October 9 but it is still not known which two clubs will be promoted to the GladAfrica Championship from the ABC Motsepe League.
SAFA suspended all semi-pro and amateur football including the SAB League and ABC Motsepe League in March as per the South African Government's directives due to the coronavirus outbreak.
The Association has since written a letter to Minister of Sport and Recreation Nathi Mthethwa to seek permission to allow all football activities to resume as soon as possible.
SAFA head of communications Dominic Chimhavi has made assurances that the Association will produce the two teams to be promoted to the NFD for next season.
"We have written a letter to the Minister. It's not only about the ABC Motsepe League games but also amateur football to continue playing," Chimhavi tells snl24.com/kickoff.
"We are crossing fingers that by next week we should be getting the response from the Minister.
"We are confident that we will meet the deadline and have two teams promoted from the ABC Motsepe League to the GladAfrica Championship next season."
Meanwhile, PSL chairman Irvin Khoza has confirmed that discussions will take place with SAFA at an Executive Committee next week.
"We have forewarned SAFA that we must keep space for the two teams coming from promotion, that space is there," said Khoza at a live press conference on Friday.
"But also they must understand that there is a new window period for registration. We don't want the teams that are promoted from the SAFA league to be disadvantaged. So whatever plans they have, they must take that into account too.
"The resumption of the SAFA leagues is one of the items on the agenda for our Executive Committee meeting next week. We can only await the outcome of that meeting between the CEOs."
Royal Eagles have already been relegated from the GladAfrica Championship to the ABC Motsepe League for next season, with either Jomo Cosmos or TS Sporting set to join them.
