Myeni had already been without a club for six months when he was signed by Sporting in January after leaving Bidvest Wits at the end of last season.
The former Orlando Pirates star is one of eight players who have been let go by the GladAfrica Championship side.
"Myeni's contact was coming to an end 30 June. We just didn't offer him a new contract," Sporting general manager Vusi Ntimane tells snl24.com/kickoff.
"The technical team saw no need to have many players to finish the last seven games so we decided to release those they won't be using."
Other players released are ex-Pirates MDC left-back Frank Motebejane, Sheldon van Wyk, Cebo Masena, Madoda Motha, Emmanuel Shoyisa, Nyiko Sibanda and Phoka Mofokeng.
The club said in a statement: "We have decided to downsize the playing personnel in order to remain with a small, manageable squad for the remaining games.
"We wish to take this opportunity to thank them for their contribution and wish them success in their careers."
