The PSL chairman confirmed on Friday that a case involving one of the NFD clubs has been referred to SAFA for arbitration but declined to reveal the identity of the club, which could be docked points if found guilty of acting against the rules.
snl24.com/kickoff reported last week that a case involving Mbombela United and TS Sporting was still set to be heard as the relegation battle in the GladAfrica Championship approaches its conclusion.
Both SAFA CEO Tebogo Mothlanthe and PSL prosecutor Nande Becker could not be reached for comment on the potential consequences of the arbitration matter.
Meanwhile, Dube Birds chairman David Mogashoa has assured the club's fans that there is no outstanding disciplinary case involving their team after a matter involving a red card Mere received while still playing for Bidvest Wits was brought forward in the media recently.
Swallows and Ajax Cape Town are fighting for automatic promotion to the PSL for next season.
"We signed Vuyo as a free agent during the week and on that weekend we were playing against Royal Eagles," Mogashoa recalls to snl24.com/kickoff in explaining his side of the story.
"So normally during the week you get the red card and yellow card reports from the PSL and Vuyo's name was not there. Swallows didn't get confirmation from the PSL that Vuyo has a red card.
"Eagles' report also didn't have Vuyo's name on it. What the PSL does is they send reports to both teams so that you know who is suspended. Both teams' reports did not have Vuyo's name there.
"Also when we registered Vuyo, the PSL didn't notify us that he was suspended. We played Vuyo on the Saturday and during the week the PSL charged us and Eagles didn't protest. PSL charged us that we played a guy that has a red card.
"That information didn't even came directly to us but via Maccabi and by the time it got to us it was already too late. I wrote to PSL that you communicated to Maccabi and we bought Maccabi and we are now Swallows, you didn't send us information that the guy has a red card and you didn't send Eagles that the player was suspended. They would have protested.
"So only the PSL charged us. We took the charge sheet and made representation. We told them we didn't know and you didn't inform us and you also didn't inform the other club, you sent the information via Maccabi. It took us long to react to the matter. What we are going to do is to suspend Vuyo and wait for your sanction.
"So we suspended Vuyo when we played Steenberg United in Cape Town. The club suspended him and then the PSL came back to us and said they accept our plea and it will be a suspended fine of R25 000. They accepted our plea and that was in January.
"We received confirmation from the PSL that they accepted our plea. That was because we didn't know and they communicated via Maccabi. If we knew, we were not going to use him.
"Also they suspended him in addition to our suspension. So the matter was finalised on 21 January 2020."
Khoza also confirmed at Friday's media conference that there is no foul play regarding Mere as far as the PSL is concerned and the matter is closed.
Mogashoa has since revealed that it's all systems go for the Dube Birds in preparation for their do-or-die battle against Tshakhuma Tsha Madzhivhandila at Makhulong Stadium on Sunday.
"There are no outstanding issues going on," he adds. "We are highly motivated and looking forward to the game on Sunday."
Swallows need to better Ajax Cape Town's final result against Mbombela United to be crowned champions and win automatic promotion as they have a plus-one better goal difference, with both teams on 54 points.
