Swallows FC coach Brandon Truter wants PSL to investigate alleged NFD syndicate

The PSL has been called upon to investigate what a local coach claims is a syndicate allegedly operating to dictate football results.

Swallows FC and their fans were left fuming after the Dube Birds were reportedly robbed of a penalty towards the end of their GladAfrica Championship match against University of Pretoria in Tshwane on Sunday.

AmaTuks, who won 3-2, were also reportedly given a soft penalty in the first half after striker Collins Mbesuma allegedly dived inside the 18-yard box.

Birds coach Brandon Truter, who was coaching Richards Bay before Swallows, believes there was a plot from outside forces prepared against his team to lose the match.

"A few weeks ago I was listening to Metro FM and it was mentioned that there was a syndicate working in the league. There is proof and everything. I think we should investigate that avenue," says Trutter.

"There are only two teams that won this weekend out of the top five. We need to look at that because it was mentioned the owners of those teams."

Despite their latest result, Truter is still confident the club will gain promotion to the Absa Premiership next season after an amazing resurgence in 2020 so far.

"Mathematically we are still there. We have it in our hands. We are playing Uthongathi next week and we still have to play Ajax Cape Town," he adds.

"It's in our hands but outside forces might have a say on it."

Second-placed Swallows are five points behind leaders Ajax Cape Town with seven league matches remaining and a point ahead of third-placed Uthongathi.

Meanwhile, PSL manager Luxolo September says the League will not do anything about the situation until there is evidence of foul play.

"If someone has information they must bring it to the League," he says. "No one has come out and sent evidence to the League. I have not seen any evidence sent to the League."
