Swallows FC on track to challenge for promotion in GladAfrica Championship under David Mogashoa

Like a phoenix from the ashes, Swallows FC are rising again and showing signs of reviving the good-old days.

After starting the season on the wrong foot, Swallows have won four games in a row and appear ready to challenge for promotion back to the Absa Premiership next season.

The Dube Birds beat JDR Stars 2-1 in their latest GladAfrica Championship match in Soshanguve on Saturday to climb to position five on the log.

The Soweto-based club are now five points behind league leaders Ajax Cape Town, who are sitting on top of the league with 32 points.

Swallows boss David Mogashoa took all his players to lunch at East Gate Mall on Tuesday in a bid to keep the spirit in the squad high.

"It was a day off yesterday and we didn't have training. We went out for lunch just to appreciate the hard work of the boys and to keep the spirit high in the camp," Mogashoa tells snl24.com/kickoff.

Swallows, who were relegated from the Absa Premiership a few seasons ago, bought the status of Maccabi FC last year in a bid to return back to top-tier football.

"Our plan was to stabilise the team in the first division in the first season. We are not under pressure but taking each game as it comes," Mogashoa adds.

Swallows, who sacked Zeca Marques and replaced him with former Richards Bay coach Brandon Truter at the end of September, are relying on the experience of Lebohang Mokoena and Vuyo Mere to aid their success.
