The 19-year-old has now completed a move to JDR, according to his representative.
"The player has accepted a move to the GladAfrica Championship, he has joined JDR on a three-year deal," his agent Pontsho Madumo tells snl24.com/kickoff.
Madumo says it is unclear why Maritzburg decided to pull out of talks to sign the player as they seemed keen on his services.
"The other team pulled out of the race and it was not clear why but we are glad the boy has got a new team now," Madumo adds.
