The GladAfrica Championship side has begun talks with some of their players regarding contracts, with one of them being former Platinum Stars star Sarr.
"They've been using this period to assess their season and how the senior players contributed before lockdown.
"Issa Sarr's name has been mentioned as one of the senior players who is set to be released."
Before lockdown the Cane Cutters said they could look at the contracts of ex-Bafana Bafana trio Nomvethe, Khuboni and Zwane.
Club spokesperson Nkosinathi Chili has reiterated that no decision has yet been made about those players, including Sarr.
"We haven't made any decision. We will assess them as senior players then make a decision at the end of the season," Chili says.
"We haven't made any decision about Sarr or any player. He's still part of the team like any other player until we make a decision."
