Zeca Marques hoping Ajax Cape Town win NFD over Swallows FC

Former Swallows FC head coach Zeca Marques says he would love to see Ajax Cape Town being crowned the GladAfrica Championship winners this year.

Marques started the season as the Dube Birds coach but was quickly shown the door after a few games and made his feelings clear regarding what he thought of the club's new owners, saying they have a "lack of knowledge".

He was replaced by Brandon Truter, who has managed to turn the former Soweto giants into promotion candidates.

Contacted for his view on the NFD title race, Marques said he was in no mood to talk about Swallows but wished Ajax to be the ones who gain straight promotion the the Absa Premiership instead.

"Well I hope Ajax. You can put that down, I hope Ajax," Marques tells snl24.com/kickoff.

"They've been there for two years, they've got pedigree, they deserve to come up again."

Marques was pressed further on who he thought was going to win the playoff spots amongst the chasing pack.

"Let's see what happens there. I mean there's a lot to play for, anything can happen between now and then," he says.

"But I would like Ajax back in the PSL. It's not about the squad, it's about consistency."

Ajax are top of the GladAfrica Championship table and lead second-placed Swallows by five points.
