Kaizer Chiefs forward Bernard Parker says they are MTN8 facourites

Chiefs have won all nine games that they have played in all competitions this season but will come up against a Pirates team that AmaKhosi have failed to beat in the last five games of this very same competition.

“My thoughts…we, as Kaizer Chiefs, our confidence is very high because we have won every single game since the start of the season. I believe we will be going into this game as the favourites,” says Parker.

Parker refuses to be drawn into the fact that they haven’t won against Pirates in the last five MTN8 games between the two clubs and says their plan is to win this game and this trophy this time around.

“We are now much better than before and with Pirates we know that they are a hard running and energetic team and I am sure the coach will apply the right tactics. Pirates’ fullbacks always add an extra player in the attack and they also have skillful wingers so on the sides they are very strong but we will prepare to come out tops.

“We have been ironing out the Kaizer Chiefs way of playing which has been helping us because it is what makes us look good. With different games and different opposition we just have to still make sure we win games. The coach has been ironing out the Kaizer Chiefs way of playing and winning games,” he says.

The 28 year-old adds that they will not be overwhelmed by the occasion and will continue with what has worked for them all along.

“Why not continue doing what we have been doing all along regardless of the occasion. If we focus too much on The Derby hype it might disturb us mentally a little bit so we will rather continue doing what we have been doing all along,” says Parker.
