Stellenbosch FC became the final side to book a spot in the MTN8 semi-final after defeating SuperSport United 1-0 in extra-time on Sunday evening.
Experienced goalkeeper Washington Arubi got his first start for SuperSport since joining this season, as Stellies gave run outs to Genino Palace and Kgaogelo Sekgota.
SuperSport did have most of the opening possession and could have taken the lead from the head of striker Terrence Dzvukamanja, but he went over the top.
The Maroons started to turn up after a quiet start to the clash and brought Arubi to a fine close-range save from Devon Titus' header following Sekgota's teasing cross later on.
Both teams continued to go all out for the opener before the close of the first half though struggled to get into any sort of rhythm inside the final third.
Matsatsantsa returned from the interval energised and look to go ahead in from a short run-up in the area by Mbatha, but Thabo Moloisane interrupted his quest to goal.
The Maroons continued to sit deep inside the final quarter which allowed the home team to get more chances through Dzvukamanja and Shandre Campbell.
SuperSport strengthened their last third moments apart with the introduction of Etiosa Ighodaro in the place of Ghampani Lungu in a desperate need for the opener.
With little clear openings in the final stages and a low intensity, the match finished goalless and had to go to a period of extra-time.
SuperSport remained on the front-foot in the opening stages of extra-time, but it was Steve Barker's side who did go on to get the winning goal in the first period of extra-time courtesy of a close-range strike by Andre De Jong.
