The newly-appointed skipper is quietly confident ahead of the midweek clash against the Team of Choice, yet is expecting a difficult campaign once the League kicks off this weekend.
“We are the defending champs,” he told a press conference on Monday. “Last season was tough, but this season will be tougher.
“We want to defend our trophy and our mission. We do have a lot of players with leadership qualities in the team. That's why we have the captains committee.”
The winger then went on to explain the role of the members in the captain’s committee.
“We help the younger players to grow in the team,” he said. “We are a team and we share a common goal. We know our responsibility is to win and bring glory to the club.”
‘Shabba’ feels his side are on track in their preparations for the 2015/16 season, and are eager for their midweek encounter against their new coach’s former side.
“We had a good time in our preparations with the new players,” he said. “We are in the right space. We are fit and are looking forward to the game.
“We have mixed well and are all ready for Wednesday. The journey starts on Wednesday.”
Kick off at FNB Stadium is set for 19:30.
