Kaizer Chiefs will get their Nedbank Cup campaign off on Saturday battling with a trophy drought dilemma that has relegated them below Baroka, Free State Stars, and TS Galaxy amongst other modest clubs.
Chiefs host TS Galaxy in the last 32 at FNB on Saturday evening (18h00) feeling the weight of expectations as they continue their hunt to end the long barren spell.
This 2021/22 Nedbank Cup will be trophy number 27 that AmaKhosi will be involved in as they chase a trophy.
Since lifting the league title at the end of the 2014/15 season, AmaKhosi have failed in another 26 editions of six competitions that they have been involved in.

This has then left them dealing with the agony of their longest ever wait for silverware with a child born the year they last went up the podium to lift silverware now in primary school.
AmaKhosi have never had to stretch their trophy wait to seven years in their proud history.
However, they have now made unsuccessful attempts in the MTN8, Telkom Knockout, Nedbank Cup, and league since the start of the 2015/16 season when they brought in Steve Komphela to take over from Stuart Baxter, who they have since brought back in the bid to end the drought.
They have also twice played in the CAF Champions League and Confederation Cup without winning the trophy through that time.
Deepening the pain for Chiefs is that Sundowns have won 12 trophies since AmaKhosi last lifted silverware with The Brazilians also now the most successful club of the PSL era years.
Chiefs' trophy drought has also meant that Bidvest Wits, SuperSport United, Cape Town City, Baroka, Free State Stars, TS Galaxy, Tshakhuma Tsha Madzivhandila (now Marumo Gallants) along with Sundowns and Orlando Pirates have all been trophy winners in the seven years since Chiefs had their last silverware triumph.
Gallants are the holders of the Nedbank Cup which has also been won by Galaxy, Ea Lla Koto, and Matsatsantsa in recent times.
Baroka won the Telkom in 2018 after it had been taken home by Wits and Cape Town City in the two years prior.
