'Dondol Stars are no match for Pirates'

Former Orlando Pirates striker Phumlani Mkhize is predicting this season's Nedbank Cup trophy is for the Buccaneers to lose as one of the tournament favourites.

The Nedbank Cup draw has been kind to Pirates this season pitting them against lower divisions clubs.

Pirates beat the likes of All-Stars and Venda Football Academy in the last 32 and 16 stages of the cup competition and will now face amateur club Dondol Stars FC in the quarterfinals.

Dondol has beaten DStv Premiership clubs SuperSport United and AmaZulu FC to make it to the last eight.

"Pirates fans and players should be celebrating, this is luck, this will be like stealing a sweet from a child," Mkhize tells KickOff.

"I've watched both their matches this Dondol Stars, I can tell you they are no match for Pirates.

"Yes, they do have combinations in the middle of the park, but when I look at Pirates the likes of Ben Motshwari, Ndabayithethwa Ndlondlo I believe they will finish quickly with Dondol Stars.

"Judging by the way they are playing I can tell you know they won't be a threat to Pirates.

"Their Nedbank journey ends here."

"I would have loved to draw a stronger opposition but anyway we are looking forward to finding out whom are we going to play in the semi-final. I believe this cup is for us."

In the other matches, Stellenbosch FC will host defending champions Mamelodi Sundowns, Royal AM host Kaizer Chiefs, and Chippa united will be pitted against Sekhukhune United.
