Kaizer Chiefs coach Steve Komphela hopes Glamour Boys can find balance between style and substance

Amakhosi have blown hot and cold during the current campaign, highlighted last weekend when some enterprising football in the Soweto derby failed to produce dividends as they went down to rivals Orlando Pirates.

Then yesterday, the Glamour Boys struggled to find their usual free-flowing stride but still managed to overcome Stellenbosch FC 2-1 in the Nedbank Cup to book their place in the quarter-finals.

Komphela admits that, in order to appease their fans, Chiefs need to be able to produce entertaining football while simultaneously bringing home the results, a balancing act the coach admits is tough to achieve.

"Football is a funny business. Last week [against Orlando Pirates] we performed well, and the result did not come. And you'll say 'do I want goals and not get [a good] performance' - they [the fans] will kill you for that," the coach told SuperSport TV.

"They want you to win, and win in style, but if you can play in style and not win, it doesn't satisfy them because they are people of success, so it is important to go for the win."

"It has to be a sweet win and not a dry one."
