Khanye: Why Chiefs, Bucs should face each other

Football analyst Junior Khanye says to avoid upsets Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates should face one another in the Nedbank Cup last 16 stage.

The 2023 Nedbank Cup campaign has so far produced 50 goals and two penalty shoot-outs.

The last 16 still have a few minnows left which Khanye fears might cause some disappointments.

The draw will take place at the SuperSport Studios in Randburg on Wednesday at 18:00.

"To keep the tournament alive Chiefs must play Pirates, otherwise it's not going to be entertaining," Khanye tells KickOff.

"You can't play Chiefs and Sundowns now or Pirates and Sundowns now.

"Sundowns my brother they've won about 15 games in a row. They've conceded about four goals.

"Since coach Rhulani Mokwena has taken over they have never lost a game.

"So, who would want to play with such people?

"Whoever is going to come Sundowns' way is going to get a hiding.

"So, if Chiefs and Pirates face each other surely one of them will reach the Quarter-finals, I so wish one of them to go all the way and play Sundowns in the final.

"To avoid losing both of them at the same time they must not be paired with the so-called smaller teams either."
