Mamelodi Sundowns co-coach Manqoba Mngqithi has warned his players not to underestimate Richards Bay FC.

Richards Bay entered this year's Nedbank Cup tournament carrying a tag of being giant killers, after knocking out Kaizer Chiefs in the same competition last season.

The Kwazulu-Natal based outfit is hoping to repeat the same feat again when they host Sundowns in the Nedbank Cup last 32 game at the Princess Magogo stadium today.

Mngqithi has conceded the challenge of motivating his players against playing a team campaigning in a lower division.

"I said before, personally, you can even ask my players, the most difficult matches for me are those where I must be the one motivating the players to go and fight.

When I play (Kaizer) Chiefs, I play (Orlando) Pirates, I play Supersport United, I know the players also know within them they have to win but in matches when everybody expects you to win, you have to dig a little bit deeper.

"We have tried to put up a good culture in the team to try to win every match that we play because of the same reason, be it a friendly match, be it a practice match, small-sided game, we always fight for a result and maybe that will help carry us through (today)," said Mngqithi.

"But one must fully understand that playing against teams currently doing well and number one on the log in NFD and a team known of beating big teams, everybody has this expectation that they will also upset us.

But the good thing now, it is not a secret that they are giant killers, they have killed so many giants and we don't want to come out in history amongst giants that have been killed by Richards Bay," he added.

Sundowns could hand the likes of Tebogo Mokoena and Surprise Ralani their much-awaited debut this evening.
