Chippa United needed extra-time to overcome FC Ravens 2-1 and secure their spot in the quarter-finals of the Nedbank Cup on Saturday afternoon.
Chippa didn't undermine the visitors thus unleashed a strong eleven in Stanley Nwabali, Craig Martin, Bienvenu Eva Nga, Kamohelo Mahlatsi and graduate Sinoxolo Kwayiba.
It wasn't the start the host were looking for as the boys from the third-tier went ahead five minutes on the clock from a finish by Samkelo Ngcungama.
Ravens enjoyed a solid day's experience despite attempts from the host to even out matters and entered the tunnel with their tails up.
The ABC Motsepe League team continued to have the advantage in the second half, whilst the Chilli Boys battled relentlessly to come-from-behind and salvage something.
Chippa, who came off their first loss of the year last weekend at the dominant Mamelodi Sundowns, were also runners-up in the 2021 edition of this cup.
The situation from here on didn't go the way the coaching duo of Kwanele Kopo and Thabo September envisaged, as Elmo Kambindu saw red for a second bookable offence.
As expected, a substitution from the host followed later on where Mahlatsi dropped out to see Baraka Majogoro come on the park.
Chippa laboured on nonetheless and were rewarded nine minutes before time when Thabo Makhele finished off Malebogo Modise's assist, ultimately steering the match to extra-time.
The Chilli Boys showed up immensely in extra-time and got ahead through Andile Mbeyane following Ayabulela Mqokozo's assist.
Ravens didn't launch any reply of note for the remainder of the contest and suffered defeat as well elimination from the competition.
