Nedbank Cup match report Tshakhuma Tsha Madzivhandila v SuperSport United 08 April 2022

SuperSport United were bundled out of the Nedbank Cup following a 3-2 loss at the hands of Tshakhuma Tsha Madzivhandila in extra-time on Friday evening.

Matsatsantsa made three changes from the 1-1 draw with Chippa United as Keenan Phillips, Thalente Mbatha and Sifiso Ngobeni were recalled, while Tshepo Matete came in as Tshakhuma's sole change.

United laid down the marker with no less than 17 minutes played as midfielder Jesse Donn volleyed a cutback right of the area by Aubrey Ngoma into the top corner of Gershin Kock's goal.

Tshakhuma's heads didn't drop shortly a while after going behind and forced goalkeeper Ronwen Williams to a strong palm from a powerful free-kick out wide by Rhulani Manzini.

SuperSport responded two minutes after the break and had Selaelo Rasebotja scoop a back-heel pass in the area from Ngoma against the foot of the post.

Matsatsantsa carried their momentum forward towards the middle of the second half and eventually bagged a second goal through a spot-kick by Ghampani Lungu following a foul on Ngoma.

United almost had a third to their name after a few minutes when defender Kegan Johannes volleyed a flick-on at the back-post off the woodwork, with Siyabonga Nhlapo on for Mbatha.

Tshakhuma got a lifeline with about 20 minutes to go as Tumi Ngwepe pounced on a loose clearance from Phillips and volleyed past a rooted Williams.

Lucky Nelukau's men had their tails up and levelled in the final five minutes when Naeem Amojee made a blind run into the area and tapped home a pass from Manzini and saw the tie to extra-time.

Vhadau vhadamani went ahead ten minutes into the additional period after Tumelo Makha beat the offside trap and finished off a one-two move he had initiated.

Tshakhuma didn't rest on their laurels and could've had a fourth late on through Nicholas Motloung, but Williams produced a superb save as the host advanced to the semi-finals with the slender win.
