Chiefs have a date with TS Galaxy in the last 32 of the only knockout competition left for the club to win this term in the bid to end an agonising silverware drought that has stretched since 2015.
What has been irritating for AmaKhosi is that through their barren spell they have now been overtaken by Mamelodi Sundowns at the top of the trophy success ranks in the PSL era years.
"The reason I am a Chiefs player is that I want to win for the team, which makes the Nedbank Cup very important for us," Ngcobo tells the club media.
The 27-year-old only joined at the beginning of this season and has only seen the MTN8 slip through the club's hands in his presence.
Though the league is mathematically still within reach it will be a big ask expecting Chiefs to win it considering Mamelodi Sundowns' pace at the top, so the Nedbank ranks as a priority with Galaxy the first hurdle.
Since returning to training Chiefs went on camp to Cape Town to help fine-tune ahead of the home stretch.
"Since we are coming into the tournament after a break the camp would have also helped us to be competitive. Everyone is ready to play the way the guys are training, and you can see everyone is ready to compete.
"We know the importance of every game and we cannot detail just how important our round of 32 game against TS Galaxy is and we have to work hard to be successful," says Ngcobo.
