The mid-table NFD outfit are preparing to lock horns with the wounded Soweto giants at Moses Mabhida Stadium in the last-16 of the Nedbank Cup on Saturday (20h15).
Barker points out his side are also coming off a defeat, a 2-1 reverse on home soil to promotion contenders Real Kings.
"We had an embarrassing situation ourselves. It's not all about them, it's also about our current form and where we want to be," Barker tells snl24.com/kickoff.
"But look everyone understands that Kaizer Chiefs are under pressure especially after the weekend's result and you know realistically the trophy they can only win this season is the Nedbank.
"We know they are a big club so after a defeat like that on the weekend they will have to bounce back. So they are wounded and that will make them dangerous but at the same time it's an exciting match for our club, our players... to play the cup kings in a football game and in the biggest cup in the country. It's a nice challenge for us you know.
"We are expected to lose and they are expected to win the game, all the pressure is on Kaizer Chiefs. So we can go there and express ourselves. we can really have a go in the game, play positively and apply pressure on Kaizer Chiefs.
"We are still doing more analysis on them as we don't want just to go on one game, we have a number of their last games that we will be analysing and looking to see where we can exploit them. But you know at the end of the day you can achieve as much as you want but at the end of the day you are playing against a very good team in the country. They will have a lot of the crowd in Durban behind them.
"You know we have to bring our A-game. We will see what we can do as we also have some good quality players full of potential and only if we can do that then we can give ourselves a 100 percent chance. We have to focus on what we need to do than focus more on them, but yes we will analyse them. Right now I still have to watch more matches of them and analyse properly.
"Look they have come off unbeaten in their previous 11 [10] games. It was their first loss against Pirates in a while, so we know they are a solid team and they are not where they want to be on the league currently. But they are still in the top so they have decent solid form, but at the same time they are under pressure."
Barker disagrees with the notion that Amakhosi are easy to prepare for as they don't have a plan B.
"The quality of the PSL is a tough league, it's not an easy league to play. Chiefs will be thinking a team in a lower league, they will be able to use their style of play. Whether they have a plan A or plan B... it's about us executing our game plan this weekend."
