Amakhosi came out a different side in the second stanza and scored three goals to book their spot in the last 16 of the Nedbank Cup.
“Two different halves and naturally so, first half the opponent is still fresh and they can cope with anything you throw at them. Now coaches have planned and profiled the match so as you tweak the match you need the coaches to engage in live thinking as they think on their feet based on the picture as it unfolds,” Komphela told SuperSport TV.
“But we are happy with how we performed and the goals we scored and we also have to give compliment Itu [Khune] and the rest of the team I thought we gave away possession too cheaply in some instances we can improve on that we need to play with more confidence. When you play with confidence your chances of being erratic are minimal. We are happy with the result let’s build from this and move on.”
Komphela was told that captain Itumeleng Khune says they only realised what they had to do in the match after a “tongue lashing” from the coach in the dressing room at halftime but the erudite tactician responded that by saying:
“I’m a very loving person, you cannot lead if you don’t love and you cannot lead them if you don’t love them. It’s not tongue lashing it’s tough love. If you love your kids and they commit errors that are fundamental you just come across and correct them.
"We don’t fight with these brothers we just correct one another, be it in a manner that is aggressive but sweet aggression in that manner. We’re delighted that some of the mistakes we committed in the first half we rectified.”
