Why Zwane wants to 'forget' Nedbank Cup clash

Kaizer Chiefs head coach Arthur Zwane has labeled the Nedbank Cup last 16 clash against Casric Stars a 'game to forget' although Amakhosi walked away victorious.

Zwane was left unimpressed by his side's effort as Chiefs recorded a hard-fought 2-1 victory over Motsepe Foundation Championship outfit Casric Stars at the FNB Stadium on Sunday night.

Although Caleb Bimenyimana opened the scoring early in the game, an Ashely Du Preez winner was needed to see off a determined Casric side that had gotten back into the game through Kgomotso Mosadi.

"It is always difficult to play against teams that come from the third division because they with more energy than structure," explained Zwane after the game.

"Yes, I think we know we could have done better and we always want to play to our outmost best and have an identity on how we want to play.

"This is one game to forget, according to our standards. I think we went down to their [Casric] level. Take nothing away from them. They are a good team, they have their strengths and weaknesses but I think we could have done better, we know that.

"Days like this in football, we know find players in that situation for some reasons. As coaches we don't give up on players and we don't give up trying to get the best ouf of them and the club going forward. That is very key.

"This is one game, like I said, just to forget. What was important for us was just to go through to the next round.

Chiefs turn their attention back to the DStv Premiership where they meet struggling Maritzburg United on Friday at Harry Gwala Stadium.
