Sense of Knowledge: When Tito performs well, the entire Pirates team performs well

An Orlando Pirates legend has praised the club's current star, Patrick Maswanganyi, for demonstrating maturity in his performance on Saturday.

According to Aubrey Lekwane, Maswanganyi, who is typically known for his showboating, played a crucial role in the team's 3-1 victory over Motsepe Foundation Championship side, Baroka FC.

The former star says this time, Maswanganyi utilized his football skills purposefully rather than just entertaining the crowd.

"On Saturday, Tito played more offensively and didn't unnecessarily delay the ball as he usually does," Lekwane stated in an interview with KickOff.

"He was releasing the ball on time, which is not what the Baroka players had anticipated. Tito is a player who can take on opponents and create opportunities. When Tito performs well, the entire Pirates team tends to perform well. On Saturday, he was effective, contributing to over 30 passes.

"He was quick with his passes and created space. Tito is a star who understands football, but his tendency to delay the ball holds him back. If he can eliminate that habit, he will become one of the best."

Lekwane pointed out that Baroka's biggest mistake in their Nedbank Cup match at Orlando Stadium was focusing too much on the occasion rather than on the game itself.

"The fact that they were facing Orlando Pirates weighed heavily on their minds, which affected their performance in the first half. They only started to play after realizing they were losing. However, make no mistake, Baroka can play. I'm surprised they are not in the top position in the Motsepe Foundation Championship table.

"The way Motsepe Foundation Championship and the ABC Motsepe League performed this past weekend demonstrated how significant our football is, it's just unfortunate that it's not receiving the attention it deserves."
