Pirates next deal? 'Dr. Irvin Khoza approached me'

Orlando Pirates are close to completing a deal to sign a teenage sensation from Baroka FC, who has caught the attention of several agents and clubs in the Premier Soccer League.

According to Baroka FC chairman Khurishi Mphahlele, discussions regarding Kabelo Kgositsile are already underway, and the two clubs are close to reaching an agreement.

The 19-year-old has made a good progress in the Motsepe Foundation Championship this season, consistently contributing goals.

It is expected Pirates will make a substantial investment for the player, as he has a few more years left in his contract with Baroka.

"Pirates showed interest in him immediately after we played them in the Nedbank Cup Last 16 at Orlando Stadium. The chairman, Dr. Irvin Khoza, approached me," says Mphahlele, speaking exclusively to KickOff.com.

"We are currently discussing the contract, which ends sometime between 2027 and 2028. I've worked with Pirates many times, and all our deals have gone smoothly without any issues.

"I'm confident dealing with Pirates because their word is bankable. You can actually take their word to the bank and bank it. You can trust their word as if it's money in the bank.

"Other clubs may promise one thing, and then do something completely different the next day, which can be stressful. I prefer to work with people I trust," he adds.

The club boss reports that Kgositsile is developing quickly.

"I discover these talented players through local tournaments. I'm always scouting, I never stop searching. Every Saturday, I attend local tournaments and travel a lot. I don't just sit at home and watch TV.

"However, any final decision regarding Kgositsile will depend on the agreement. We have not yet reached an agreement with Pirates."
