Chiefs legend slams Lorch, hits out at Nedbank Cup officiating

Kaizer Chiefs legend Marks Maponyane has hit out at the officiating during the Nedbank Cup final between Orlando Pirates and Sekhukhune United on Saturday.

The Buccaneers collected their second trophy for the season with a 2-1 win over a spirited Sekhukhune side at Loftus Versfeld Stadium.

Goals from Sibusiso Vilakazi, Tapelo Xoki and Terrence Dzvukamanja decided the outcome but not without controversy as a decision by referee Thando Ndzandzeka to award the Buccaneers a penalty late in the first half when Victor Letsoalo was adjudged to have handled the ball inside his own box.

Chiefs legend Maponyane took to social media to voice his dissatisfaction, slamming  the decision while criticising Lorch, who won the penalty.

"Our football is going nowhere when such decisions are made, it's unsportsmanlike and worst referring. Our game is in trouble, what a shame!!! I'm done!!!"

'Go-Man-Go' then also took a dig at Lorch, who won the penalty, claiming the attacker had intentionally kicked the ball towards Letsoalo's hand, though video footage shows Letsoalo reaching out at the ball.

"Didn't Lorch force to kick the ball against his hand NOT ONCE BUT TWICE," added Maponyane.

Meanwhile, head coach Jose Riveiro said he believes it was a penalty having seen the striker reach out for the ball while Brandon Truter said commenting on the issue would only make him sound bitter.
