In our new exciting feature called My First, KickOff has erstwhile Orlando Pirates striker Andries "Local is Lekker" Sebola in the hotseat as he reveals his firsts.
My first school:
"Segooa-Kgala Primary School. It's a school here in Mahwelereng. It was in 1978 when I first attended there."
The first team I supported:
"Kaizer Chiefs. Me and my friends we used to call ourselves with the name of the Chiefs players while playing street football. I have forgotten which name I used to call myself, but I loved dribbling and scoring goals."
My first girlfriend:
"I don't remember her, I had plenty girlfriends. They were just too many."
My first kiss:
"To be honest even that one I don't remember. It happened a long time ago."
My first pair of soccer boots:
"Sky soccer boots. They were white with some little black colours there and there. I got them from my brother, he bought them for me. I think I was 13 years old at the time. In the beginning, they were a bit heavy because I was not used to playing in soccer boots, but as time went by, I got used to them."
The first club I played for:
"Mahwelereng Motherwells B-Division. And eventually ended up being promoted to the first team. I think I was around 16 years old. From there I moved to Mahwelereng Young Tigers. They were playing in the second division."
My first goal:
"It was during the days of the NSL, against Bloemfontein Celtic at Peter Mokaba Stadium. We beat Celtic 3-2 and I scored the winning goal. I was now 18 years old."
My first red card:
"I never received a red card in my whole football career. I was not a rough player."
My first individual award/honour:
"It was in the OK-League. I was voted Players's Player Of The Season in that league. I think it was somewhere between 1991 and 1992."
My first trophy:
"Winning the BP Top8 with Orlando Pirates in 1996 beating Qwaqwa Stars 3-0, I scored the second goal. The same year, we beat Jomo Cosmos 1-0 in the BobSave Super Bowl final. I scored the winning goal."
I still have the medals in my cupboard; I'm keeping them for my son, who is also playing the game."
