Orlando Pirates legend Gavin Lane says luck always plays a major role in who ends up as victor in a Soweto derby.
The Buccaneers clinched a narrow 1-0 win over the Soweto rivals in Saturday's DStv Premiership clash at FNB Stadium on Saturday.
"Both sides are playing terribly at the moment, so we didn't know what to expect.

"Pirates got the win where momentum carried them forward," Lane tells KickOff.
"Yes, Chiefs also came off a win against Cape Town Spurs, but beating a bottom-of-the-table team at this stage of the season is always easy.
"Derby matches always depend a lot on luck or lucky breaks. They are hard to predict because you will never know if your favourite team's players will show up on the day, or not.
"Players always try to remain disciplined during derbies as they want to avoid being sent off.
"At the moment, there is quite a lot of moving and shifting in the Kaizer Chiefs technical team, and the Orlando Pirates coach he has been there for a while now, and his players understand how he wants them to play.
"It is a little bit difficult for Cavin Johnson because he is new in the set up, and it will take a bit of time for him to get his methods across.
"Pirates had the advantage because their coach is not new."
