RELEVANT: Hotto firm in Pirates’ derby war cry

Deon Hotto's input at Orlando Pirates will come with another step of significance when the latest Soweto Derby gets underway on Saturday at FNB Stadium (15:30).

Hotto has long cast doubts aside about the value of his contribution at Pirates with his diligence second to none regardless of the where he is tasked to play.

The Namibian is already the only player at Pirates to have featured in all 16 MTN8 games played by the club in lifting four titles in this competition since he joined in September 2020.

To further demonstrate what he has given Bucs, Hotto has now played 192 games for the club since he joined from Bidvest Wits and in that run has only not been involved in just 15 matches.

His goal input playing in all positions on the left flank stands at 59 (25 goals and 34 assists).

Then, with regards to the Soweto Derby, he hasn't missed any, giving him a count of 11 in a row.

With minutes on Saturday almost certain if not guaranteed pending injury, the 34-year-old will reach a dozen, making him the only player in the current squad with 12 consecutive appearances in this massive match.

Hotto has been on the winning end in six of those derbies, inclusive of the 2-1 extra time win in the 2023 Nedbank Cup.

So, it makes all sense that he tackles questions related to this monster fixture.

"Saturday will be a different ball game, and it doesn't matter what your opponent is going through," highlights Hotto.

"This is a derby, and everyone is switched on.

"It will be an intense game and not an easy one.

"Our main focus is not about seeing the losses and wins that they (Kaizer Chiefs) have picked up.

"For us, every game is a final and that is the thing.

"We are prepared and ready for Saturday.

"We will have to dig deep to get those three points because they brought in three new faces and our technical staff still needs to dig deep and see how those guys move.

"We will just stick to what has been helping us up to now," explains Hotto.
