‘I hope that Pirates gives him a 10-year contract’

Orlando Pirates workhorse Deon Hotto has been given enthusiastic approval for what he keeps giving in his line of work.

Hotto plays his football with his heart on his sleeve and knows no limits in being humble to the last drop in a way that has won over his national team coach Collin Benjamin.

"I have to say that Deon is an absolute professional," says Benjamin, who watched Hotto play his 50th game for Namibia and Pirates this season on Wednesday evening in the World Cup qualifier against Liberia.

The 33-year-old has played 166 out of 181 played by Pirates since he was signed on a delectable contract four years ago.

"It is crazy in the sense that if we are at training and we need a goalpost to be carried, Deon is the first one to go.

"If we are traveling and the kitman needs help to get bags into the bus or the plane, he is the first one.

"So, that means his attitude is just in the right place.

"He is brought up so well and proper and has so much respect for his profession that he is really this role model for these young guys.

"Personally, it has been a pleasure working with Deon.

"There is not much of coaching with Deon, we manage him, and he gives it back and with that, I really wish he could play longer.

"I hope that Pirates gives him a 10-year contract," says Benjamin.
