Riveiro: We're not happy with a point

Orlando Pirates head coach Jose Riveiro says the game was there for the taking after playing to a 1-1 draw against Moroka Swallows.

Pirates went to the half-time break trailing Swallows 1-0 after Lindokuhle Mtshali found the back of the net but Patrick Maswanganyi levelled matters for the Buccaneers early in the second stanza.

Riveiro says the game was there for the taking but they were just playing too fast.

"Difficult game to play, it was really fast. I think we played good football, our mistake punished us in the first-half, the only action where the opponent managed to shoot on target," Riveiro told SuperSport TV.

"The game was all for us but we missed the last pass or the last touch in the box, I think we played a good game of football but not a good result.

"I think we started very fast, dominating, with all the control of the game, the opponent struggling to contain us in the central corridor, so it's easy to see that it was just a question of time that we were going to capitalise," he said.

"But then we conceded one goal and after that we were a little bit in a hurry, trying to score the second before the first one and I think in the second-half we started well, we equalised."

The Spanish tactician went on and explained the difficulty of scoring the winner in the closing stages, where gamesmanship comes into play.

"You know these types of games when you go to the last minute, chasing one goal, it's always the same, there's interruptions, breaking the rhythm, it's difficult. But overall I'm happy with the performance of the guys. I think today they showed that they are here to compete and ja we move," he said.

While Swallows coach Musa Nyatama was happy with a draw, Riveiro believes their performance deserved maximum points.

"No, we're not happy (with a point). Obviously I think our performance is to win the game but again, (it's a) scoring game, 1-1," he added.
