Pirates coach: It was an extraordinary performance

Orlando Pirates head coach Jose Riveiro praised his charges for a complete performance after a 3-0 win over Stade d'Abidjan in the CAF Champions League.

Relebohile Mofokeng, Patrick Maswanganyi and Deon Hotto all scored for the Buccaneers, as they climbed up to the top of Group C.

The Spanish coach described his team's performance as "extraordinary" after netting three unanswered goals.

"From beginning to end a really good performance from the boys, excellent attitude, excellent rhythm, excellent intentions, well executed our plan," Riveiro said on SABC Sport.

"Obviously we're playing a competition where goal difference could play a role in the end but I think we cannot complain about anything today, it was an extraordinary performance in every phase.

"Not allowing the opponent to play at all, we managed to keep our pressing very well during the 90 minutes, provoking a lot of mistakes from the opponent, they don't play well from the build-ups. I think it's a really positive game."

He continued, "There's components obviously of the things we emphasize everyday, the way we want to play football, where we want to find as much as possible our key players. So like I said, it's a great day to celebrate, the coaching staff did a good job, it was difficult to deal with this team on set-pieces, in the first fixture," Riveiro went on.

"I don't remember them having a goal chance today, a couple of shots but from long range. Overall it's a day to be happy as a group."

The Spanish coach also opened up on the Soweto giants topping the group with two matches remaining.

"It's a good thing after four games to be leading the group, really difficult group. Look at the names and you can understand that it's not an easy thing," the Spanish coach said.

"Eight points, we need to continue, the next one is here at home and it seems to be an important one again," Riveiro added.
