'What are those people telling Saleng?'

Monnapule Saleng's heart may no longer be at Orlando Pirates following suggestions that he is rejecting interventions from club legends.

The Saleng saga has been dominating football discussions in the country, particularly among club supporters.

Pirates fans' questions around why the winger has been missing are growing louder by the day, especially with the side involved in the league title race with Mamelodi Sundowns and in desperate need of extra quality.

The club seem to have made matters worse by not explaining why Saleng has been out of the squad and not even at training sessions, as he has not been reported to be injured.

Club legend Lebohang Mokoena has revealed that he has been trying, along with other legends in the game, to get hold of Saleng, all to no avail.

"Till today, I've been trying to get hold of him with the phone (he has not answered or got back to me). I went through some of his socials to try and drop him a message and say: 'Hey boy, give me a call, let's talk' because I'm also getting messages asking me about the boy," Mokoena said on SoccerBeat YouTube Channel.

"The last time I checked on one of his Facebook (posts), he was at some farm, running around chickens and cows. And I'm looking at the people around him (in the picture) and these people are not even football people. What are they telling him?

"That's what I'm saying, the influence around him is not so good, man. Because there's always advisers. We understand the issue, you might not have got the opportunity to get a team you were looking for - either going overseas, making more money or you're not happy with your salary.

"Whatever it is, the advice (from legends) is clear and sound, go sit down with the team and explain your situation. If the team don't get it right, the only answer is to get back into the field," 'Cheeseboy' added.

Pirates have in the past solved such matters by transferring a star player who proves to be problematic after they did it with the likes of Mokoena himself, Teko Modise and recently Thembinkosi Lorch - all sold to Mamelodi Sundowns.

It remains to be seen if Saleng's future could also be lying elsewhere ahead of the 2025/26 season.
