OFFICIAL: Erasmus leads list of latest Pirates departures

With KickOff having predicted that more exits were looming at Orlando Pirates, the club has now announced that they have parted ways with four players.

The Buccaneers have already shaken hands and bid goodbye to the duo of Souaibou Marou and Fortune Makaringe, and now more have followed the duo out the exit door at the club's Houghton offices.

The quartet of Richard Ofori, Siyabonga Mpontshane, Thabang Monare and Kermit Erasmus have all been let go, freeing them up to find new homes ahead of the 2024/25 season.

It is news that does not come as a complete surprise considering they form part of the group that has not enjoyed much game-time this past season as the Soweto giants repeated their feats of the previous campaign, winning the MTN8 and the Nedbank Cup while qualifying for CAF Champions League football to ensure another successful season.

Now, with it being unusual for two goalkeepers to be let go at the same time, it means the club will be prioritizing that position when a conversation about replacements takes place.

Notably, Ofori and Monare are internationals, for Ghana and South Africa respectively, and finding clubs as soon as yesterday will be top of mind.

It remains to be seen where the action-starved duo of Mpontshane and Erasmus will end up, though they will feel they still have a few more years to go before hanging up their boots.
