Disappointed Bucs star laments back-to-back draws

Orlando Pirates attacker Patrick Maswanganyi rued the team's recent back-to-back draws in the DStv Premiership against AmaZulu and Polokwane City.

Pirates, who before last Tuesday played just five times in the league, have started playing catch-up and were denied maximum points against Usuthu and City the past week to remain 13th on the table.

Maswanganyi put the Buccaneers ahead at halftime against the Rise and Shine, but his effort was cancelled out in the second half as Given Mashikinya levelled.

"It's a very disappointing result especially (when) we haven't won in the league. We have played two draws since we came back and very disappointing playing at home, we wanted to win the game," Maswanganyi told Pirates media.

"But we ended up drawing the game. We should've scored more goals in terms of us wasting chances because this is what happens when you don't score your chances.

"I think we created a lot of chances but we couldn't even score more than two because we only scored one and they scored an equaliser so it's a drawn game," he added.

Pirates started their campaign in the league with a loss at Stellenbosch FC and suffered another set-back against Mamelodi Sundowns in September.

"We need to actually start winning the games because we are capable of winning the games. But now we have dropped and are not winning, we want to win as soon as possible.

"I think the next game it has to be a win no matter what whether it's home or away. We have to win the game," Maswanganyi said.

The Buccaneers have the chance to get back on the winning track in the league on Wednesday against the bottom-placed and winless Cape Town Spurs.
