Pep talk for Pirates midfielder

Orlando Pirates midfielder Karim Kimvuidi is getting regular pep talk about his limited minutes situation at the club as he works towards the end of his second season.

Kimvuidi has had struggles with game time playing less than 200 minutes (spread over nine appearances) so far this season.

His minutes have been limited to appearances from the bench and last played in February as a substitute.

"I speak to the boy regularly because I understand Pirates since I also played there," says fellow Congolese Lelo Mbele who spent time at Pirates during his playing days,

"Not playing as much as he would want to shouldn't make him feel discouraged or feel like he is not good enough.

"These things can happen to the best of players so what is key is to keep his mindset switched on.

"Mentality is crucial in football because it is all that makes a difference in professional football where all players are good.

"The boy must continue training hard and prove himself when he gets his chance.

"I have told him about the importance of keeping himself ready by training harder than the regulars so that when his chance comes it he makes the best use of it.

"Giving up is not even a choice because this is not what he learnt here in Congo.

"I always tell Karim that when I arrived at Pirates, we had up to 12 players upfront, but I took the challenge and made it count when I got my chance," says Mbele.
