Riveiro shares trophy hunt formula

Jose Riveiro has shared his wisdom in matters relating to winning trophies with three left to play for this season after having already added the MTN8 to the Orlando Pirates cabinet.

Pirates are chasing their third Nedbank Cup in a row, are through to the CAF Champions League quarterfinals and still have huge interest in wrestling the league title from Mamelodi Sundowns.

All this comes with the MTN8 already bagged.

"It is still early to speak about titles because we are going through the rest of February and then March," says Riveiro, whose team returns to Orlando Stadium on Saturday for the first time since January 12 for a Last 16 date with Baroka FC.

"We will be tested in different competitions and the Champions League will come after the FIFA break.

"We are trying to look at every game as an opportunity to win, to showcase the players' talents, to make sure that we are at the level that this project requires.

"This time is an opportunity to defend our last Nedbank (Cup) title and excited to continue with the same winning stride in this competition.

"We have had an opportunity to look at the opponent and it is a serious team with a lot of quality up front with the capacity to give you a bad day if not at the level which the game requires.

"Our focus is to try and be better than Baroka on Saturday and respecting them 100%.

"We are Orlando Pirates, and it is our obligation to fight for every result and this time the Nedbank will not be different," says Riveiro.
