Pirates keeper ‘one of two survivors’

The Betway Premiership's ever-presents list is down to only two players with Orlando Pirates Sipho Chaine one of them.

Chaine has played every minute in the league for Pirates, where he has now established himself as the first choice through tripling his value.

The 28-year-old has pushed himself from starting at the back of the queue upon arriving September 2022 to firmly holding on as the preferred keeper.

Bucs have played 14 league games and Chaine has been between the posts in all of them from his first against Chippa United to the most recent against Mamelodi Sundowns.

He has kept clean sheets in half of those games and conceded 10 with four of those goals going past him in the game against Sundowns.

Before the Sundowns game, Chaine had not conceded more than once in one game in the league.

He is now amongst the important players at the Soweto giants, where the second choice is Melusi Buthelezi.

Joining Chaine on the forever presents table is Cape Town City goalkeeper Darren Keet.

The 35-year-old has played every minute in his club's 18 league games, keeping six clean sheets and conceding 21.

Of note is that Chaine and Keet will meet on Saturday when their clubs play at Orlando Stadium.
