Pirates' loaned-out star sets Motsepe Foundation Championship alight

Cape Town Spurs striker Boitumelo Radiopane, on loan from Orlando Pirates, continues to set the Motsepe Foundation Championship alight with his goal scoring form.

The 20-year-old, who is spending the season at Spurs, on loan from the Buccaneers, got his name on the score sheet as the Urban Warriors recorded a 2-0 win over All Stars.

Radiopane missed a large chunk of the first half of the season due to niggling injuries but appears to be finding his form since his recovery.

The striker has scored four goals in his last three appearances for the MFC side, including a brace against Uthongathi.

Questions continue to be raised over Pirates' decision to loan out the young striker, but Bucs' head coach Jose Riveiro has insisted that he expects Radiopane to return to the club as a sharper striker.

"I think he [Radiopane] is doing a good job after a long period injured," Riveiro said in January.

"I don't know the coach [Shaun Bartlett] but I'm sure he is a coach who can help him in his development there. I'm pretty sure that he [Radiopane] can manage to achieve the standard required to play for Pirates."

Last season, Radiopane netted an incredible 24 goals for Bucs' Reserves – a new goal scoring record for the DStv Diski Challenge (DDC) and a return that earned him the DDC Player of the Season, in addition to the Leading Goal Scorer award.

Radioman is in contention to start when Spurs take on Polokwane City on Saturday.
