Pirates seek solutions for misfiring strikers

Orlando Pirates have begun the preliminary work of seeking ways to restructure their attack with two strikers already being offered to prospective clubs for the new season.

Top of the list of those that the club is keen to offer to any interested bidders is Cameroonian striker Bienvenu Eva Nga.

Eva Nga has struggled to fit in at Pirates since moving from Chippa United at the beginning of the 2022/23 season.

A return of a single goal from 15 appearances has provided the answer to that the big forward made the wrong call in settling to join Pirates after getting into double figures at Chippa United.

While the headache at Chippa was related to finances, Eva Nga functioned well there before the move to Pirates which came against the background of interest from Kaizer Chiefs and SuperSport United.

With the stability of what Pirates offers in the pocket, the 30-year-old is aiming to remain at the club, though his name is already being rubbed off onto other clubs.

Eva Nga still has a running contract with Pirates, but it is envisaged that he will struggle again considering the pattern of play established by Jose Riveiro.

A return to the Chilli Boys has been suggested if the Eastern Cape club fails to keep Etiosa Ighodaro but Eva Nga has reservations, considering the financial issues that he had to deal with while there.

There has also been talk of SuperSport, considering the presence of Gavin Hunt who worked with the forceful forward in his time at Bidvest Wits.

Pirates are open to cashing in on Eva Nga.

The Buccaneers are also toying with the idea of finding a solution for Kwame Peprah after his return from his loan at Maritzburg United, while Ndumiso Mabena is also sitting on the fence having done little in his second spell.

Peprah has interest from clubs in Tanzania and Libya, but it is uncertain they will be keen to pay a transfer for the Ghanaian after his struggles last season.
