Can Pirates end their wait for Champions League glory?

Orlando Pirates have advanced to the group stage of the CAF Champions League for the first time under coach Jose Riveiro, who has already won five domestic trophies in South Africa.

The team last reached the CAF Champions League final in 2013, but Pirates legend Tebogo Moloi believes the current squad has what it takes to go all the way. Moloi is confident that the Buccaneers can not only reach the final but also take the ultimate step and secure their second Champions League title.

"If Pirates can continue playing the way they have been playing both at home and in Africa, then I don't see why they can't reach the finals. They have the fighting spirit which we haven't seen for sometime among Pirates players. That's what makes me believe that they can go all the way to the final. But the players themselves also need to believe that they can do it and it will be possible," Moloi told KickOff.

The former midfield maestro further commended Jose Riveiro and his technical team.

"There is no time for experimenting in the Champions league. As I said before, you have to always use your best team at any given time and that's what the coaches have been doing this year and it's is working for the team. They should not change.

"You remember last season they used to change teams for the League and Champions League and we were knocked out very early but this season it's different and it's good for the team," Moloi concluded.
