Soweto giants Orlando Pirates defeated LALIGA side Sevilla 2-0 in a pre-season friendly on Monday evening.
There were six changes from the Buccaneers, with Sandile Mthethwa, Miguel Timm, Deon Hotto, Thalente Mbatha, Karim Kimvuidi and Tshegofatso Mabasa all getting starts.
It took the Buccaneers just over 20 minutes to get going as Timm made a timeous run to the near post and finished off Relebohile Mofokeng's corner-kick.
The match were played at a relatively fast pace, with most of the play in the forward areas in a balanced manner and nothing stretched.
Mofokeng, who assisted the opener, came close to doubling matters a little later but unfortunately managed to curl high and wide.
Sevilla looked to go back on level terms and camped extensively in the Buccaneers' half, but were let done by a combination of mis-placed passes and poor finishing.
The Buccaneers produced a completely new line-up in the second half, which included Angolan new boy Gilberto making his debut since arriving from Petro de Luanda.
Not a lot changed though, instead the tempo from the opening spell dropped a bit, as Sevilla continued to battle a way back against the resilient Buccaneers.
Sevilla still camped in the opposite half, as Stanisas Idumbo penetrated in the wide spaces, box areas and just around the edge of the attacking area.
However, Sevilla's hopes of grabbing an equaliser were dented after Kabelo Dlamini displayed prestige composure outside the area and curled in the top corner to double Pirates' lead.
Pirates were comfortable in the latter minutes before the end of the contest and went on to pick up their first win in pre-season.
