Relebohile Mofokeng, Patrick Maswanganyi, and Dion Hotto scored the goals that earned the Buccaneers the three points and kept the club's aspirations of securing a quarter-final berth alive.
Pirates showed no mercy towards their opponents from the first to the last whistle, playing enterprising football that left Riveiro with a smile on his face after the 90 minutes were over.
"The attitude was for a team that wanted to do something special tonight, that wanted to keep growing as a team, keep achieving things together. They showed from the first minute of the level today that they applied themselves, especially in the defensive phase," Riveiro told journalists after the match.
"It is easy to say the opponents didn't create so much, but today, what was important was when we were not in possession and the lack of opportunities of the opponents during the 90 minutes.
"The rest of things, everybody could see we managed to play good football in certain moments of the game, we dominated in certain moments of the games, but most of the time, today was played in a high tempo.
